social services have yet again let a poor innocent child down following the murder of baby violet on huddersfield road in oldham by Gary Alcock and Claire Flanagan. justice will prevail!!
A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with murdering her 15-month-old baby daughter in Greater Manchester.
Violet Mullen was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital on Tuesday evening and suffered a cardiac arrest, but died a short time later.

Gary Alcock, 28, and Claire Flanagan, 22, both of Huddersfield Road, Oldham, are also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.
They are due before Oldham Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
Mr Alcock is not the baby's father.
Greater Manchester police (GMP) said they were alerted to the girl's arrival at hospital by the ambulance service.
She was admitted at about 1930 GMT but died a short time later.
Police have not disclosed the results of a post-mortem examination into her death

Mine were told terrible lies of which they obviously have no memory. They were then told by a foster carer that their mother was dead. So ingrained was their whitewashing they still come up with allegations now of which they have no memory during childhood as there is no truth in it. I have met with children who were their friends in care that were... never told their legal rights on reaching the appropiate age. Many had been given lies or given no reason at all for being in care.
Needless to say they left care seriously damaged.

/Appropriate SW Practices'.
The Childrens Act takes primacy over all of this.
Due to the lack of keeping and providing such vital information or
in neglecting to obtain it, it's my view the GSCC is in violation
of the Childrens Act by supplying registration to social workers
who could cause children significant harm - this is not any
reflection on the Information Dept or its staff- but those
directing the department that are in violation of Childrens' Act
law.

In spite of the increased focus on Serious Case Reviews (SCRs), Ofsted’s latest evaluation of 173 SCRs has found that there is still significant room for improvement in the process. While 23% of reviews were judged good, over a third of reviews were judged as inadequate. The clear message is that even more needs to be done to ensure that the review process improves the way children are protected from harm across the country. Any burglar facing a prison sentence of 6 months or more can demand a hearing before a jury so how can it be right or just that parents who risk losing their children for life to "forced adoption" are denied this option. Juries consider complicated medical evidence in cases such as murder, and compensation for injuries, also complicated tax laws in cases of fraud, and insider dealing. The simple decision whether a mother accused of risk of emotional abuse should keep her newborn baby or not would I think we must all agree be more likely to favour the mother if considered by a jury but records show that such cases nearly always favour the social services if decided by a judge. That is probably why juries are banned from the family courts but allowed to decide libel cases in other civil courts! To take a newborn baby from its mother and give it away for adoption by strangers is a far far worse punishment for her than any jail sentence as it condemns the mother to a life sentence and the baby to probable death later in life if it should require a kidney or bone marrow transplant or other medical attention in which a birth family member was needed but could not be located! How can this be justice?

Having in my career had a lot to do with social workers, and been in more case conferences than I can count, I confess that I am cynical about the value of the whole apparatus and seriously question whether less harm might, on balance, be done if it were to be abolished and not replaced.
